Mobile proxies are the most expensive proxy type, and the market is full of providers selling relabeled datacenter IPs as "4G". The difference matters: Instagram and TikTok fingerprint datacenter ASNs instantly, and a fake mobile proxy is money burned.
We compared the providers that publish real device pools and API rotation. This page ranks what is actually worth paying for - and what to skip.

## What separates a real mobile proxy from a fake one
Ask one question: "Is this a physical device with a SIM, or a gateway?" Real providers show you the device, the carrier, and the rotation mechanism. Fakes sell you a datacenter IP and call it mobile.
Rotation control is the other filter. A serious mobile proxy lets you rotate on a timer, via an API call, or via a special link. If rotation is "automatic and you cannot control it", you are on a shared gateway with no guarantees.
## What mobile proxies cost
- Shared 4G pool: $30-90/month per port
- Dedicated 4G device: $100-300/month depending on country
- Per-GB mobile: $8-25/GB
USA and UK IPs cost the most. Anything far below these ranges is not a real mobile device.
## When mobile is worth the price
- Social media management (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook)
- Ad verification on mobile carriers
- App store testing across carriers and regions
For search-engine scraping or public data, mobile is 5-10x overkill - see our datacenter proxies ranking instead.
The best mobile proxy is a dedicated 4G/5G device with API rotation in the country you need. Shared pools are cheaper but riskier for account work. We compare entry prices and rotation options in the ranking above.
Almost never. A real mobile proxy is backed by hardware and a SIM plan, so $10/month 'mobile proxies' are datacenter IPs with a mobile label. Check whether the provider shows real devices before paying.
Mobile wins. Instagram trusts carrier IPs more than household IPs because blocking a carrier IP affects thousands of real users. Residential is the budget option with a higher ban rate.
For account management, one dedicated device per account cluster. For ad verification or scraping, a rotating pool endpoint is enough - the rotation happens behind it.
